Alvi's Homemade: A Family Tradition Since 2013
Founded in 2013 by our father, Tahir Alvi, Alvi’s Homemade began as a heartfelt response to a visit from our late grandfather, a renowned chef along the Grand Trunk Road in Pakistan. Inspired by his legacy, our father decided to pursue his passion for cooking, transitioning from a career in engineering to the culinary world, with the unwavering support of our mother.
The journey started with a single food stall on Saturdays in Retford, where our father’s delicious recipes quickly gained popularity, leading to sold-out events. As demand grew, he and our mother expanded their offerings, often cooking late into the night after their day jobs. To help out, us three siblings joined the team, bringing our own unique skills to the family business.
Today, Alvi’s Homemade operates nationally, participating in farmers’ markets, events, and shows across the country. We remain committed to our roots, crafting each dish by hand and using the highest quality locally sourced ingredients. Our ethos is simple: to honour family traditions while sharing the rich flavours of our heritage.
